Who We are

The ‘Chilidog’ name comes not from the local cheese-topped, chili-drenched coney that is the true flavor of Cincinnati, but from our Arizona-born Labrador named "Chili."

Peter Bronson is a journalist, editor and author with experience at newspapers such as the Tucson Citizen, and Cincinnati Enquirer, where he worked as an editorial page editor and columnist. His award-winning reporting spans investigative reporting, public service and column writing. He was recognized for Best Editorial Page in Ohio four years in a row.

Beyond journalism, he has worked in magazines, radio and TV as a panelist on Arizona Illustrated on KUAT-TV in Tucson, and as co-host of Cincinnati’s Hotseat.

In 2002, he founded Chilidog Press LLC, an independent publishing company that gives authors control over their work. Since then, he has published more than 50 books and helped many authors bring their stories to life.

Based in Milford, Ohio, he continues to write, publish, and support independent authors.

A note about editorial control: In 2006, I had finished Behind the Lines, my second book. It was a contrarian criticism of the politicians and local media (people I worked with) who told less than half the story about the violent 2001 riots in Cincinnati. After reviewing my manuscript, an Ohio publisher told me I would have to rewrite the book because it was “wrong.”

At the time, I worked downtown at the Cincinnati Enquirer, and interviewed dozens of police, politicians and citizens who were on the front lines; I did ride-alongs with cops, covered the chaotic council meetings at City Hall and walked streets that were still radiating anger five years later. But this publisher who worked 40 miles from Cincinnati “knew” from biased national media reports that the events I reported could not be true.

I left and never looked back. I have been publishing my own books and helping other authors publish ever since. Since then, Chilidog Press has published more than 50 happy authors whose referrals keep the books coming.

You… and your idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to share business principles. Maybe you want to turn your writing hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story can make all the difference.

We aim to make it easy to navigate the world of publishing, beyond your manuscript.
